How You Can Always Finish The Practice In A Positive Way
First, have no expectations. When you have expectations and reality is different, you suffer.
Reality is what it is.
How can you actually expect a certain level of play with so many factors that are out of your control?
You cannot even control that you will hit the ball in, let alone win the game, set or a match.
You also cannot control your opponent’s decisions and shots and you cannot control the outside conditions – sun, wind, balls, court, etc.
And yet our mind still creates expectations and predictions.
And how many times have you been right? And you STILL create expectations (or believe them)? Funny.
But there is another approach: you can give 100% of your effort and have a positive mental attitude. Try your best and solve the problems that happen in your tennis training session.
For example you may have problems with your spin serve. Even if you work on the serve only 5 minutes, it will improve a little bit.
Surely there must be some progress – if you look for it!
And then you can work on your movement – think “happy feet”, jump, and skip, whatever comes to your mind and keep solving the movement problem.
And after a couple of minutes there will surely be some progress.
And that is what keeps you motivated – you get better and better.
Instead of looking for that perfect end result – your expectations – look for small improvements in anything that you do.
You will undoubtedly find them and that way you can finish the practice in a positive way – looking forward to the next one.
