Thanks for the Tennis Strategy ebook, I’ve started reading it this morning.

It’s so simple and concise; I appreciate your ability to convey information that makes sense.

One of my bonus questions is: How do you beat Rafael Nadal on clay?

Let’s check all 4 major parts of tennis and see what you need:

Winning In Practice But Losing In Matches

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Hi, I am an excellent tennis player under 12.

When I have my training I always play excellent, but when I participate in tournaments I lose to players which I beat easily in the training.

This is a big problem, can you help me?

Hi,

I admire your courage to admit your weaknesses and look for solutions at this age and thank you for the trust.

How To Mentally Approach Playing A Weaker Opponent

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Hi Tomaz,

I got the manual about a month ago, and it is absolutely fantastic. I have a question for you.

Mentally, at stages it’s normal to have negative thoughts towards playing somebody who is way way way weaker than you.

I know I would beat the person most easily, but do have some negative thoughts about the match going all wrong if I had to play him, that I would get nervous/lose/be mentally broken, …

I would like some advice.

Lleyton Hewitt lost to Roger Federer in the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters Series with the 6-3, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (1) score.

Although Lleyton lost, there were some interesting lessons in how he played Roger and almost beat the current nr.1 player in the world.

Ever Lost To A Name?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

You know the “names” in your tennis circle, don’t you? ;)

There are names like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick on the ATP tour and names like Serena Williams, Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova on the WTA tour.

There are of course “names” in your local tennis club and maybe you are even one of them.

I used to lose some matches to “names”, then eventually won some, then realized that this “name” thing is just a trick of my mind and I don’t play well if I listen to it.

Wilson K Six One 95 Quality Check

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

If you are considering getting a new Wilson K Six One 95 tennis racket, you might want to check what Nawin found out on his Regentville tennis blog.

Here’s a picture that says more than thousand words. ;)

Wilson K Six One 95 tennis racquet

Nawin bought two Wilson K Six One tennis racquets a month apart and discovered that there some differences in weight distribution, where logo is printed on the racquet head and even the grip size felt different.

I personally haven’t used this racquet and prefer Head models, but if you are one of the Wilson fans, check out Nawin’s article about Wilson K Six One 95 differences.

Before You Buy US Open Tennis Tickets

Looking to buy US Open tennis tickets?

U.S. Open Tennis

Tennis tickets for US Open are already on sale and here are some tips and thoughts before you buy them:

1. In most cases, if you buy tennis tickets for multiple days, you’ll get a discount.

2. Lower seats give you a much better view but they cost more.

3. Try and get a seat behind the player so that you will clearly see the pattern of play.

If you have a seat on the side of the court you constantly need to turn your head to see the ball and you miss a lot on how the players actually hit the ball and where.

4. US Open tennis tickets will become more and more expensive as the date of the tournament comes closer. US Open starts on 27th of August and ends on 9th of September.

5. Good days to watch are quarterfinals where you get to see many top players battling in exciting matches.

If they got to the quarterfinals they had to be in form and there is usually not so much pressure as in the semifinal so the level of play can be higher.

6. The best day to watch is the Super Saturday where you get to see men’s semifinals and women’s final. But be ready to stay on court for at least 5 hours. ;)

Oh yes, where to buy the tickets for this year’s US Open?

Novak Djokovic - The Best Player In The World This Week

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

Novak Djokovic achieved an incredible feat this week in Montreal by beating Andy Roddick, ranked #3 in quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal, ranked #2 in semifinals and Roger Federer, ranked #1 in the final.

The score in the final was 7-6, 2-6, 7-6.

It’s quite unusual to see Roger Federer lose in the final since we got so used to seeing him winning.

Roger lost only 7 finals since 2003 (before Montreal) and won 40.

He lost 6 of the finals to Rafael Nadal and one to David Nalbandian.

This makes Novak Djokovic only the third player in the last 4 years that was able to beat Roger Federer in the final. ;)

How did Djokovic accomplish that?

Here’s what the players said in their interviews after the match:

One or Two-Handed Backhand?

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

If you are considering one or a two-handed backhand either as a tennis beginner or an advanced player, then you are probably trying to figure out what are the pros and cons of one and two-handed backhand.

Onehanded tennis backhandIn my experience, most children learn a two-handed backhand very quickly.

They are still weak for a one-handed backhand and can still develop good feel on the non-dominant side.

Adults learn a one-handed backhand faster since they are stronger and their non-dominant side improves slower.

The reason why I mention non-dominant side is because when you hit a two-handed backhand (right-hander), you need to drive forward mostly with your left hand.

You can improve the feel of the non-dominant arm with this simple drill for a two-handed backhand.

Fast Tennis Serve

After you have learned the basic tennis serve technique and have become quite consistent you feel the urge to really whack the ball and send a rocket towards your opponent. ;)

You try to hit the ball hard, use all the strength in your body and somehow the serve just doesn’t seem to respond to your efforts.

In fact, it seems that it’s going even slower now. ;(
