Katarina Srebotnik Defeats Serena Williams In Straight Sets

Katarina Srebotnik from Slovenia has won the biggest match of her life winning 6-4, 6-4 against Serena Williams in the third round of the French Open.

Katarina was pretty much in form since she recently reached the finals of Strasbourg where she lost to Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-4, 6-7, 0-6.

Serena Williams on the other hand had to withdraw in the quarter-finals of Rome because of the back problem.

Katarina Srebotnik and Serena Williams already played this year in Charleston, where Serena won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. The head to head score with the latest win from Katarina now stands at 3:1 for Serena.

Katarina has now reached the 4th round of Roland Garros and has equaled her best result in Grand Slams where she reached the 4th round in 2002 – again, here at Roland Garros.

Katarina will now play the winner of Emilie Loit and Patty Schnyder for the place in the quarter-finals.
