Where Does Tennis Technique Come From?

Friday, July 13th, 2007

It’s much easier to learn tennis technique if you understand where it comes from.

You don’t have to swing at the ball in a certain way just because coaches, players, books or “How To Play Tennis” videos tell you to do so.

If you just listen to that advice you can of course develop good tennis technique and strokes.

How to play tennisThe final two tennis lessons conclude the Squidoo page about learning to play tennis.

The volley lesson covers the grip, preparation, footwork and the follow-through.

The overhead tennis lesson explains the key to the footwork and preparation when moving under the ball.

As usual feel free to comment on these free online tennis lessons and of course build your lens on Squidoo.

Try it, it’s fun, especially if you have never built a webpage before.

Maybe that will be the first step you do to take advantage of the power of internet and find more financial and personal freedom in life.

Return Tennis Lesson on Squidoo

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

There is a short update on the tennis lessons page on Squidoo.

I have added 2 simple tips that you can use as a beginner when practicing the return.

The first one is about positioning and may be obvious to more advanced players.

But I have often taught tennis beginners that didn’t find this positioning so obvious.

The second tip is about where to aim your return.

It may seem counter-intuitive at first but when you play it a couple of times you’ll see why you need to play there.

Hop over to Squidoo for this return tennis lesson and vote for the lens if you like it.

Serve Tennis Lesson Added On Squidoo

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

This the third part of the tennis lessons series that I build on Squidoo.

The serve lesson shows you how to find the continental grip, how to start learning from the first lesson (hint - it’s about your stance) and how to coordinate both arms.

I also suggest the serve in 2 parts for easier progression.

Take a look at the tennis lessons page on Squidoo and give it your rating.

You can only rate a lens if you are a Squidoo member. If you are not, sign up and create your lens, anyone can do it for free.

How Much Tennis Can You Learn In 2 Hours?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

I recently had a very interesting tennis lesson with a 10-year-old girl.

She never played tennis before and it’s been quite a while since I taught someone with no previous experience with tennis.

She was an extremely good learner and learned lots of technique and footwork in her first tennis lesson which lasted 2 hours.

I thought it would be interesting to document what she learned in 2 hours and how a coach needs to adapt to the player’s learning abilities.

For a full article go to “What a 10-Year-Old Tennis Beginner Learned in 2 Hours”.

Follow My Tennis Lessons Series On Squidoo

Monday, June 18th, 2007

I’ve been working on my tennis lessons lens on Squidoo lately. Don’t know what Squidoo is?

It’s a website where anyone can build a page (a lens). You can build a page about anyting you like, want to promote, want to share thoughts about and much more.

Here is a Squidoo FAQ

If you do know what Squidoo is and you are already a member, then please rate my lens!

And let me know of your lenses too so that I can return the favor.

Feel free to comment too at the bottom of this lens…

I plan to add new tennis lessons every few days and right now you can read an introductory tennis lesson which covers the split step and ready position, and a forehand lesson which covers the grip, contact point, follow-through and preparation.

This a very short version of the full How To Play Tennis video instruction package for beginners that you can find on my website.

How To Find Tennis Lessons In Your Town?

Friday, June 15th, 2007

I came across a very useful website which helps you find tennis lessons in your country and town. I know that many people use search engines like Google and Yahoo to search for tennis lessons but this search rarely works well.

That’s becuase not many tennis professionals have websites and even if they do, they rarely optimize them for a search like “tennis lessons new york”.

TennisLessons.com tries to solve this problem in two ways:

1. By allowing tennis pros to register their services and specify where they are located

2. By allowing tennis players to search for tennis lessons in their town (or country) and see if there are any pros listed in that area.

The service is free and very simple to use.

So if you have been trying to find a pro in your area, go ahead and search TennisLessons.com for a pro.

And if you are a pro looking to find more customers, register and post an ad. It will take you just a couple of minutes.

By the way, I’m working on one website with free online tennis lessons and will keep you updated as I add new lessons every few days…
